Afranet is the first private tier one Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Iran holding an ISO 9001 certificate. Having a direct access to the Internet backbone via its satellite ground station Afranet is issued both ICP and ISP permissions from PTT. Currently it has 4 Mbps send & 13 Mbps receive bandwidth, which can be upgraded up to 90 Mbps with the existing equipment. As a funding member, Afranet has established a high-speed network with four other major tier one ISPs (Isiran, DPI, IPM and Sharif) which is known as GIX (Global Internet eXchange).
